In late September, the Downtown Action Plan Steering Committee convened for a second meeting, where the project team shared preliminary vision statements, interventions, and potential geographic sectors to target.

While many Washingtonians left town in early August, we were busy continuing to gather information from key stakeholders through a series of focus groups. Over 50 people with a range of perspectives on the District’s downtown participated in the meetings.

In the second of a series of webinars in support of the downtown Action Plan, FC2’s Tony Williams hosted a debrief with two of the minds behind the Futuring Workshop held July 13, which explored various possibilities to reimagine downtown D.C.

The Federal City Council hosted a webinar on “Opportunities Ahead” with author and chair of the Economics Department at Harvard University Ed Glaeser.

On June 20, this Steering Committee gathered for the first time to meet each other, discuss the Action Plan, and begin the conversation about possible futures for downtown D.C.

On June 15, the Action Plan project officially kicked off at a public event where more than 200 attendees learned about the effort and participated in brainstorming sessions.
